“The only transformer and alchemist that turns everything into gold is love.”
Hi. How are you?
I’m Liz Perpetua: a gently and fiercely loving First-Generation Filipina-American mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, auntie, niece, cousin, and friend expressing my heart and soul being myself in the world. I integrate allopathic, narrative, holistic, and indigenous healing medicine in all arenas with individuals, teams, and organizations.
I am also a student, teacher, writer/editor, researcher, doctorally-prepared cardiology nurse practitioner board certified in acute care and advanced holistic practice, and an inducted Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. I’m also Dare to Lead Trained (Brene Brown) and a Master Trainer of TeamSTEPPS (Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety, Agency of Healthcare Quality and Research). LinkedIn has much of the conventional curriculum vitae and peer-reviewed publications.
I am a Filipino Shaman through lineage who returned to my ancestral inheritance as a Hilot Binabaylan/Minister of Indigenous Filipino Spirituality ordained through the Dambana ng Luntiang Aghama Center for Philippine Traditional Indigenous Spiritual Beliefs and Practices (Hilot Academy of Binabaylan, Apu Adman Aghama Rev. Rolando Gomez Comon and Bae Akuma Maria Haswell).
My reclaimed ancient roots, family, sangha, and open heart community ground and nourish my life, inviting intergenerational healing backwards and forwards. Deepening my practice, I am presently in a 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP) facilitated by Jack Kornfeld and Tara Brach in collaboration with the Greater Good Science Center at University of California Berkeley.
And, none of this is me. My true nature is love. I am a joyous follower of my sacred heart. I surrender to the sweet, delicious bliss of being fully alive, living full out, being myself. I open to my heart’s longing for my sacred self to be expressed, witnessed, and to bear witness. For me, this means speaking to what feels unspeakable, touching what feels untouchable. Loving what feels unloveable.
For me, this is the healing path. I have two sons who are the loves of my life. Their love inspires me to be my full self, and to learn to really be with myself. All of me, no part left out. Expanding my capacity to be with, receive, and express this boundless love - no one, no parts left out.

About the Series
This four-week series introduces mindfulness as an everyday way of meeting life as it is. We’ll turn inward to practice noticing sensations, emotions, and thoughts with presence and a sense of kindness. Challenges like restlessness and distraction are a natural part of the process, and we’ll work with this gently.
Approachable practices offer kind ways to notice patterns and develop a more spacious, balanced way of being with ourselves and the world. This is a shared exploration grounded in curiosity, respect, and the understanding that we are all learning as we go. I invite you to come as you are and participate in whatever way feels comfortable. I am excited to embark on this journey of loving awareness and courageous compassion together.
All are welcome. No prior experience is required. Please follow this link to register.

Cardiac Nursing
The 4th edition of this book helped me become a cardiac nurse. I was so inspired and moved by nurses transferring their wisdom to nurses, which still brings me great joy to this day.
I went to grad school at University of Washington to learn from the expert nurses who brought this book to the world.
15 years later, I was asked to be the Editor of the 7th Edition. Saying yes to this invitation, we brought together the best science and a community of over 40 authors sharing their cardiology expertise and lived experience of caring for patients and their hearts.
Into the Light: A Memoir of Darkness through Poetry and Prose
My memoir of the roles and relationships I’ve lived, serving in the spaces between worlds.
Publication date: Soon.
Guide for the Heart Team
My love for innovation - creating possibilities when there were none - is deeply ancestral, forged in the fire of 300 years of Philippine colonization. Ancient technologies and innovations - knowledge, tools, processes, healing - that my ancestors used to survive are the reason why I am here today.
Innovation takes many forms in my life. One of these forms is transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), a procedure to replace a heart valve without open heart surgery. Integrating cutting-edge medicine with ancestral healing wisdom, I’ve served as a guide for patients and programs involved in these life-saving therapies.
